Combining the freight and ports/marine workgroups to address freight, port and rail issues together responds to a growing need to better quantify and improve the performance throughout the entire integrated transportation supply chain. The workgroup goals would be to foster information sharing and leverage significant new resources to expand voluntary diesel emissions mitigation efforts related to 1) ports; 2)intermodal transport – rail, trucking, short sea shipping; 3)intermodal railyards; 4)inland ports; and 5)distribution centers.
