The National Idling Reduction Network brings together trucking and transit companies, railroads, equipment manufacturers, local, state and federal government agencies (including regulators), and national research laboratories to identify consistent, workable solutions to heavy vehicle idling for the entire United States.

An EPA effort that reduces both children's exposure to diesel exhaust and the amount air pollution created by diesel school buses.
Smartway Transport:
A voluntary program between EPA and the freight industry that will increase the
energy efficiency while significantly reducing air pollution and greenhouse gases.
U.S. EPAs Voluntary Diesel Retrofit Program:
Works to reduce pollution from existing diesel vehicles and equipment by
encouraging cleaner burning fuel and pollution-reducing devices.
Clean Cities:
A U.S. Department of Energy program that supports the idea of adopting practices
that contribute to reduced petroleum consumption in the transportation sector.
Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP):
This U.S. Department of Agriculture/Natural Resource Conservation Servicess program
funds provide a voluntary conservation program for farmers and ranchers that promotes
agricultural production and environmental quality.
Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ):
These U.S. Department of Transportation funds are available to improve air quality and
reduce congestion.

Program seeks collaborative ways to promote the use of environmental management systems
and address regulatory barriers that can hinder performance improvements.
The Construction Sector Program is a part of the Sector Strategies Program and
includes building construction, highway construction, heavy industrial construction (e.g.,
tunnels, airports, and dams), municipal utility construction (e.g., waste water treatment
plants), and special trades such as plumbing, heating, and demolition contractors.
